Job Description
At GEMS American Academy, Abu Dhabi, we are inviting applications from passionate and dedicated Social Studies/Economics/Business Studies for Secondary Division as a Substitute/Cover teacher to join our team from October/November 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards and best practices in inquiry-based learning.
· Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including English Language Learners and students identified as gifted and talented.
· Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that promotes collaboration, curiosity, and student well-being.
· Use technology and innovative approaches to enhance learning experiences.
· Assess student progress through varied, authentic methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
· Collaborate with colleagues to plan cohesive units and contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
· Participate actively in the school’s co-curricular and community programmes to support holistic learning.

Successful candidates will need to:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or a subject-related degree with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state teaching license or equivalent) in Social Studies/Economics.
· Proven experience teaching Social Studies/Economics, ideally within an American or IB curriculum context (preferred but not essential).
· Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and support students through engaging, purposeful learning.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative and reflective approach.
· Commitment to ongoing professional development and contributing to the school’s positive, inclusive culture.
