Job Description
- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured lessons in English Language and Literature according to the prescribed curriculum.
- Develop students’ abilities in reading comprehension, literary analysis, creative and academic writing, grammar, and verbal communication.
- Use a range of teaching strategies and technology to support differentiated learning and student engagement.
- Assign and assess coursework, essays, and examinations with timely and constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including board exams or international certifications.
- Promote critical thinking, discussion, and appreciation of literary texts from a range of genres, authors, and cultures.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe to express ideas and opinions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, achievement, and performance.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and well-being.

Participate in curriculum planning, departmental meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development.

Contribute to the extracurricular life of the school through clubs, drama, debate, or other English-related activities.
- Ensure GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
Skills
Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English/English Literature.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or an equivalent teaching qualification is required.

Minimum 3 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire adolescents.

Familiarity with digital teaching tools and modern assessment strategies.

A creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered teaching approach.
