GEMS International School, Dubai Hills is now welcoming applications from experienced Global Politics Teachers for opportunities commencing August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based Global Politics lessons that develop students’ critical thinking, analytical writing, and understanding of contemporary global issues.
- Inspire students to explore political systems, power, human rights, development, and global interactions through a balanced and analytical lens.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom environment that encourages debate, dialogue, and intellectual curiosity.
- Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including EAL students, gifted learners, and those requiring additional support.
- Integrate real-world case studies, current affairs, and technology to make learning relevant and engaging.
- Assess, record, and communicate student progress effectively, using data to inform planning and targeted support.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the IB Diploma Programme to ensure cohesive, concept-driven curriculum planning and assessment practices.
- Support students in developing research, essay writing, and source evaluation skills essential for success in IB Global Politics.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities, Model United Nations, enrichment opportunities, and community initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with parents and the wider school community to support student wellbeing and academic success.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to continuously enhance teaching and learning.
- Uphold the GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile across all aspects of school life.
Skills
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A recognised teaching qualification at degree level, such as a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent in a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences subject.
- A minimum of three years’ successful experience teaching Secondary Humanities, ideally including IB Diploma Global Politics (preferred but not essential).
- A strong understanding of international relations, political theory, and contemporary global issues.
- Experience or confidence in teaching inquiry-based, discussion-led, and concept-driven learning.
- A passion for developing informed, analytical, and globally aware students.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- The vision, energy, and commitment to contribute to a leading GEMS flagship school with a diverse international student body.
