Job Description

  1.   Behaviour for Learning

Develop, maintain and regularly review effective behaviour systems to ensure outstanding learning behaviours across all parts of the school. Report key behaviour metrics to the senior team and take action to make improvements. Advise the Principal on policy related to behaviour and work with parents and students when issues go beyond the Assistant Principals.

2. Safeguarding

Ensure systems for child safeguarding and child protection are robust and improved across the school. Should any child protection or safeguarding incident occur, take responsibility for investigation and subsequent actions. To act as Dedicated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the school.

3. Well-Being

Accountable for the execution of the wellbeing strategy and initiatives across the school and play a key part in improving student outcomes, ensuring TWS students reach their highest potential.

4. Staff Training

Deliver appropriate training for staff to ensure that they can effectively implement behaviour and safeguarding systems to ensure consistency across the school.

5. Evaluation and improvement planning

Monitor and evaluate the quality of students’ personal and social development and their protection, care, guidance and support (Standards 2 and 5 in the 2018 UAE Inspection Framework) and take appropriate action to make improvements. Report evaluation outcomes to the senior team, support writing of the SEF and use evaluation to plan improvements effectively.

6. Holding others to account

Ensure appropriate systems and structures are in place to hold staff to account. Use an appropriate balance of support and formal procedures to evaluate the performance of Heads of House and ensure staff meet the high expectation of GEMS Education and The Westminster School.

7. Policies and Procedures

Ensure policies and procedures related to pastoral care, safeguarding and child protection are formalised and implemented across the school.

8. Accountability to stakeholders

Support the development of a culture in the school which is stakeholder focused and aims to improve levels of engagement and satisfaction for students, parents, staff and community stakeholders.

Skills

Qualification:

Masters in Education/leadership/Psychology.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years in leadership role in school.

Job specific knowledge and skills:

·         Experience of working with data management system

·         Safeguarding in schools trained

·         Working knowledge of Data Protection

·         Knowledge of, and ability to utilise, ICT to access and retrieve information. Particularly Microsoft Word & Excel.

·         Excellent administrative and organisational skills

·         The ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and other related professionals both orally and in writing

·         Attention to detail and accuracy

·         Ability to work with different agencies to improve student outcomes

·         Ability to work constructively as part of a team understanding roles and responsibilities, including own

·         Ability to build and form good relationships with young people, colleagues and other professionals.

·         Commitment to the highest standards of child protection.

·         Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, without distractions.

·         Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to and drive change as required.
