About the role
As a technology technician you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the school’s technology infrastructure. Working closely with the Innovation Team and teaching staff, you will provide technical and operational support that enables the integration of emerging technologies, robotics, coding platforms, and digital tools across classrooms and departments.
You will contribute to GEMS SRI’s mission to provide authentic, inquiry-based learning experiences by ensuring that our digital systems are robust, efficient, and forward-looking.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support & Maintenance
- Provide first-line support for all hardware, software, and network issues within the school.
- Maintain and troubleshoot devices, including desktops, laptops, iPads, projectors, AV systems, and robotics equipment.
- Support the installation, configuration, and updating of educational and administrative software.
- Manage inventory and ensure efficient deployment of technology assets.
- Support for Innovation and Learning
- Collaborate with teachers and the Innovation Team to implement technology-rich learning experiences.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of robotics kits, coding hardware, and digital learning platforms.
- Support students and staff in the use of emerging technologies, including VR/AR, AI, and digital fabrication tools.
- Facilitate small-group training sessions and workshops on the effective use of technology tools.
- Innovation Culture
- Contribute to the school’s Innovation Strategy by suggesting and piloting new tools and solutions.
- Assist in documenting and showcasing innovation success stories on digital platforms (school website, social media).
- Support the organisation of innovation showcases, exhibitions, and professional learning events.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in IT, Computer Science, or Educational Technology.
- Proven experience in a school or educational setting (preferred).
- Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, system management, and educational hardware setup.
- Familiarity with robotics platforms
- Understanding of classroom technology tools and learning management systems.
- A proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for innovation and learning.
