The role includes the opportunity to teach ESL GCSE to very small classes, deliver small-group phonics intervention, and teach Literacy Lab classes, explicitly supporting students to develop sentence structure, paragraph construction, and academic writing conventions.
The ELL Teacher will also work in partnership with the GEMS, parents and, where appropriate, external specialists to ensure a coherent and holistic approach to language and literacy development.

The successful candidate will have:
- A UK-approved ELL/EAL qualification and a relevant PGCE

- The ability to identify potential ELL learners and contribute to screening and assessment processes
- Preferred: Experience teaching ESL GCSE, or the capacity to do so
- Experience supporting small groups through targeted phonics and literacy intervention
- Experience teaching Literacy Lab–style classes, including explicit instruction in paragraph writing, sentence cohesion and academic language
- Up-to-date understanding of ELL/EAL and literacy best practice and relevant policy in the UAE, UK and internationally
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with students, teachers, parents and school leadership
- A strong commitment to inclusion, equity and student-centered practice
- A reflective, solution-focused mindset and a willingness to contribute positively to the wider school community, including extra-curricular and community events
At Jumeirah College, inclusion and tailored intervention are central to our culture. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a small ELL cohort, while strengthening literacy provision and empowering students to progress beyond limits.
