At GEMS School of Research and Innovation, we provide a seamless educational journey from Pre-Prep + Prep to Sixth Form, enhanced by cutting-edge technology and a forward-thinking curriculum. The Science Lab Tech’s main job purose is to organise, prepare, and support the safe delivery of science experiments and practical sessions under the direction of the Head of Science and teaching staff.

Skills

Salient Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials, equipment, and resources for science experiments in advance of lessons.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
  • Monitor and replenish stock, ensuring safe and compliant storage in accordance with school and KHDA regulations.
  • Support teachers and students during practical lessons as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of lab spaces; ensure waste is disposed of safely.
  • Report and document any breakages or safety incidents.
  • Secure laboratories when not in use and maintain safety signage and equipment.
  • Assist in compiling annual orders for science resources in consultation with curriculum leads.
  • Ensure all GEMS policies, including health and safety protocols, are upheld at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Science or School Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related subject preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in a laboratory or school setting.
  • Knowledge of lab safety and chemical handling protocols.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
  • Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
