At GEMS SRI, our creative learning environments are enriched through hands-on, practical work. We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-focused Design Technology & Art Technician to support the day-to-day running of DT and Art labs, ensuring safe, well-stocked, and inspiring spaces for student exploration.
Skills
Salient Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and organisation of practical lessons in DT and Art.
- Maintain tools, machinery, and materials to ensure safe usage and availability.
- Assist with demonstrations and student supervision during lessons as required.
- Prepare resources in line with lesson plans and curriculum needs.
- Maintain inventories and reorder materials in consultation with teachers.
- Support the display of student work and contribute to a creative classroom environment.
- Uphold safety procedures and conduct regular checks on tools and equipment.
- Assist with project preparation and cleanup before and after sessions.
- Follow all health and safety and school protocols as outlined by GEMS.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or relevant certification in Design Technology, Fine Art, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in a school workshop, art room, or makerspace.
- Working knowledge of hand tools, equipment, and creative materials.
- Well-organised, dependable, and comfortable supporting students in a hands-on setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
