Job Description
Job Purpose
The A Level Physics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Physics across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, following the British Curriculum framework. The teacher will prepare students for external examinations such as Cambridge International, Edexcel, AQA, or A Levels while fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Physics lessons aligned with the British Curriculum and A Level specifications.
- Teach Physics across KS4 and KS5, including IGCSE/GCSE and A Levels.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Develop students’ practical, analytical, and problem-solving skills through laboratory activities and investigations.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methodologies into lessons.
- Encourage independent learning and scientific curiosity.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Prepare students for external examinations (Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA, ).
- Mark assessments, assignments, and mock examinations.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Provide constructive feedback and intervention strategies to improve achievement.
- Support students with university preparation and STEM-related pathways.
Classroom & Laboratory Management
- Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom and laboratory environment.
- Ensure all practical experiments comply with health and safety regulations.
- Manage laboratory resources and equipment effectively.
- Promote positive behaviour and uphold school policies.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental improvement initiatives.
- Participate in moderation, standardization, and collaborative planning meetings.
- Stay updated with curriculum developments and examination board requirements.
- Support enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, and competitions.
Pastoral & Wider School Responsibilities
- Act as a tutor/form tutor when required.
- Support student wellbeing and safeguarding policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student performance and progress.
- Participate in school events, meetings, training sessions, and extracurricular activities
