Job Description

GEMS Modern Academy seeks an enthusiastic and innovative Middle School Science Teacher to inspire students in Grades 6 through 8. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combination of Physics and Integrated Science, creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment that sparks curiosity about the natural world. We are looking for an educator who has MYP experience, and  is passionate about making science accessible and exciting for young adolescents and who is committed to fostering a growth mindset in every student.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum:

  • Design and deliver dynamic, standards-based lesson plans in Physics and Integrated Science for middle school students.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and readiness levels of all students.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, labs, demonstrations, and technology integration, to make scientific concepts tangible.

  • Assess student progress through a balanced system of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.

Classroom & Community:

  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes collaboration and intellectual risk-taking.

  • Establish and maintain clear routines and high expectations for academic achievement and student behavior.

  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and curriculum.

  • Actively participate in faculty meetings, department meetings, professional development, and school events.

  • Collaborate with other middle school teachers to support interdisciplinary learning and the holistic development of students.

Professional Growth:

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in science education and middle-level pedagogy.

  • Reflect on teaching practices and be open to feedback for continuous improvement.

 

Skills

Physics Teacher:

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), or a related field.

  • Valid teaching certification/license for middle school or secondary science.

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in middle school science.

  • Strong knowledge of Physics concepts and general science curricula for Grades 6-8.

  • Proven ability to create an engaging and safe laboratory learning environment.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Education or a Science discipline.

  • Experience with [Mention specific programs, e.g., Project-Based Learning, International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), STEM/STEAM initiatives].

  • Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance learning (e.g., interactive whiteboards, data loggers, simulation software).

  • Personal Attributes
