Job Description
The School Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to students with disabilities or developmental delays. This role involves assessing students’ needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to improve their functional skills and participation in school activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses.
- Assess students’ fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive skills.
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) Development:
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs.
- Set realistic and measurable goals for each student.
- Monitor student progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
Skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Knowledge of educational theories and practices.
