Job Description

GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi is an inclusive international learning community that inspires engagement, conviction, and high achievement. Established in 2007 and accredited by CIS and NEASC, the School offers an outstanding K-12 American/IB education to 2,000 students from over 80 countries.  It is the flagship American curriculum school for GEMS in Abu Dhabi and offers an academically rigorous program of studies specifically designed as a student-centered, inclusive and adaptive approach to learning.

 

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to drive educational, operational, and commercial excellence creating an environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially ensuring world-class outcomes for GEMS students.

 

We are looking for an outstanding leader with:

 

  • Educational expertise and a proven track record of developing and sustaining a high standard learning environment.
  • Experience in leading strategic processes in a school to achieve targets. 
  • Excellent communication skills and strategies that will motivate and inspire all stakeholders.
  • The ability to provide direction, set expectations and inspire staff through communicating goals clearly and empowering collaboration.
  • Successful and demonstrable experience of parental engagement and evidence of creating community partnerships that enhance learning.
  • A cultural understanding and ethos to lead both staff and students to continually strive for excellence.

Skills

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are: 

 

  • A strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving school development in previous positions.
  • A powerful communicator who delivers clear, pro-active and effective two-way
    communication (both orally and in writing) that expands understanding, listens to and
    respects the differences of all stakeholders.
  • A leader that can provide direction, set expectations and inspire their staff through role
    modelling. Communicating goals and expectations clearly, then delegating and
    empowering others.
  • Able to deliver results and drive achievement by displaying high levels of energy,
    coaching others, and holding everyone to account including themselves.
  • Able to develop high performing teams and build effective relationships through
    collaboration and risk taking.
