Job Description

GEMS Al Barsha National School are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Academic Standards to provide professional leadership and management across our school.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of academic excellence and compliance with curriculum standards across the school. This senior leadership role focuses on curriculum development, teaching quality, student performance, and maintaining accreditation requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

As Head of Academic Standards, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the direction and success of the school. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Play an active role in school strategic planning and school self review.
  • Be responsible for leading, developing and managing teaching and learning, the curriculum, target-setting, assessment, tracking, recording and reporting across the school.
  • To take a significant lead in developing the curriculum in conjunction with senior and middle leaders and all teaching staff.
  • To have accountability for the standards of attainment, progress, achievement and behaviour, to monitor and evaluate the progress made in these areas and determine further actions for improvement.
  • To have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of the KHDA/DSIB UAE Inspection Framework and the new Education 33 Vision. To use these to support leadership and management of both primary and secondary alongside their respective Headteacher.

Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • A B.Ed or subject related degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent
  • Accredited educational leadership qualification such as NPQSL or NPQH.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of the curriculum and teaching methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to improving student achievement and teacher performance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders
  • Evidence of significant and continued professional development.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
