Job Description

GEMS Cambridge International School is seeking an experienced and passionate French Teacher to join our modern language department. This role involves teaching French at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (iGCSE) and the opportunity to teach at Key Stage 5 (A-Level) in the future

We are looking for a talented individual who can inspire students to develop a strong command of the French language and foster an appreciation for French culture. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the iGCSE curriculum and experience teaching A-Level French would be an added advantage.

 Key Responsibilities:

 – Plan and deliver engaging French lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of students in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

– Develop and implement effective teaching strategies, instructional materials, and assessments to support student learning and progress.

– Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback for improvement.

– Collaborate with colleagues within the modern languages department to ensure curriculum alignment, share best practices, and develop high-quality resources.

– Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.

– Promote the French language and culture through extracurricular activities, cultural events, and exchanges (desirable).

 Requirements:

 – A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching French, preferably in a British curriculum setting.

– A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in French or a related field.

– A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

– Excellent command of the French language, both spoken and written.

– Thorough knowledge of the iGCSE French curriculum and experience teaching the programme.

– Knowledge of the A-Level French curriculum and prior experience teaching it (desirable).

– Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging learning environment.

– Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.

 (Distance or open university degrees are not accepted unless MOE equivalency is obtained). HPL (High Performance Learning) experience and Permanent Teaching License will be an added advantage. All certificates should be duly attested.
