Director of Science – Immediate Start

We are seeking for a dedicated and experienced Director of Science, Chemistry specialist who can join us immediately. This leadership role requires a strong commitment to pastoral care, academic success, and fostering a positive school culture. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and personal development of staff and learners.

Qualification:

• Proven experience in a senior role leading the whole Science department.
• Preferably with A level experience teaching Chemistry in a British curriculum school.
• Knowledge in Data Management.
• A certified professional teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent.

  (Distance or open university degrees are not accepted unless MOE equivalency is obtained). HPL (High Performance Learning) experience and Permanent Teaching License will be an added advantage. All certificates should be duly attested.

Job Description:

• Work closely with the Head of Secondary and Deputy Head / Assistant Head Teacher to establish effective and globally relevant practices of learning & teaching.
• Implement the schools vision for quality in the school linked with the GEMS expectation of excellent education.
• Integrate GEMS core values into the planning and delivery of all curricular and co-curricular lessons and activities.
• Develop minimum learning outcomes for all subjects and set benchmarks to raise standards.
• Help staff develop professionally and meet time based school improvement targets.
• Conduct needs based lesson observations / lesson appraisal and provide focused effective feedback in order to meet school targets.
• Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
• Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers.
