Job Description
GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail are looking for an experienced Data Manager to join the Primary team.
This role offers a key opportunity to shape and support data strategy within FS and Primary at GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail. As Data Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of student data and assessment information. You will work closely with the Primary Leadership Team and teaching staff to raise standards across the school through robust and strategic use of data. Your role will help continue to embed a culture of data-informed practice throughout the school.
Data Systems and Reporting
- Manage the effective use and administration of the school’s MIS (SIMS) and assessment platforms (Go 4 Schools).
- Maintain and update pupil records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Produce timely and accurate data reports for the Primary Leadership Team and teachers to inform teaching and learning strategies.
- Develop and maintain key data tools to monitor progress, attainment, and gaps for key student groups.
Assessment and Benchmarking, including UAE National Agenda
- Manage the administration and data processing of national and international benchmark assessments (e.g., CAT4, PASS, Progress Tests, TIMSS, PIRLS, and PISA).
- Oversee the Testwise platform to ensure students are registered and access codes are distributed.
- Become familiar with assessment manuals and protocols for TIMSS and PIRLS, ensuring compliance with delivery procedures.
- Complete all required administration forms and coordinate submission timelines.
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure technical readiness and support during assessments.
- Invigilate and provide technical/administrative support during testing days.
- Support secondary colleagues during the PISA testing phase, including setup and invigilation if required.
Parental Engagement
- Support parents with access to Go 4 Schools parent portal and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Provide feedback to the Primary Leadership Team on parental usage and engagement with assessment platforms.
- Assist in setup of Parent Teacher Consultation and Celebration of Learning events, including booking systems and communications.
Staff Training and Support
- Provide training and ongoing support to middle leaders and teachers on how to access student data effectively.
- Develop quick-reference guides and training materials for staff use of SIMS, Go 4 Schools and data templates.
Strategic Leadership and School Development
- Contribute to the design and review of the school’s data strategy to align with academic improvement priorities.
- Provide data sets and insight to support key school processes (e.g., Student Data and Strategy Meetings, performance reviews, inspection preparation).
- Ensure data protocols align with school improvement priorities and help inform action planning at all levels.
Compliance and Information Governance
- Ensure all data management practices are compliant with school data protection policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all student data in line with safeguarding protocols.
- Prepare and manage data for end-of-year and transitions.
Primary Leadership Team Support
- Work closely with the Primary Leadership Team to ensure timely availability of accurate data to support interventions and strategic decision-making.
- Liaise with the Inclusion department to ensure all Students of Determination and ELL data is current and accurately tracked.
- Provide technical and administrative support for date-related projects linked to school improvement.
- Support the setup of new classes.
- Track student enrolments and leavers to ensure student data is always up to date.
- Provide emergency support to the Front of House or Admissions team, as needed.
Skills
Requirements for the role are:
- 3 years of analytical experience
- Knowledge and experience of using SIMS and/or similar school software packages
- Experience with GL Assessments or similar standardised testing platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, spreadsheet development/creation and data management systems.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
