Job Description
GEMS Al Barsha National School is seeking an experienced Assistant Principal to join the Arabic and Islamic leadership team for August 2026 start.
As MoE Assistant Principal, you will support the vision, core values, mission, aims and policies of the school. You will support and develop the effective leadership and management of the school whilst ensuring the highest possible standards of teaching, learning, curriculum, student achievement and pastoral care.
- Represent the views and interests of the Arabic and wider Ministry of Education (MoE) subject teams with the Senior Leadership Team and, in so doing, share leadership responsibility for:
• school self review and SEF
• school development and improvement planning through strategic plans and the annual School Development Plan and associated phase action plans
• the development of school policies, systems and procedures
• annual whole school budgeting and reviews
• staff deployment and development across the school - Contribute to school activities such as parents’ evenings, parental workshops, liaison with the local
community and other school events and activities. - Communicate a clear strategic vision for the development of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment and establish an effective action plan to achieve these goals.
- Be responsible for ensuring a broad, balanced, enriched and relevant curriculum provision within the Arabic team, focused on high standards of attainment, progress, attendance and behaviour.
- Develop and enhance the classroom practice of all staff in the Arabic team across all curriculum areas. Lead and organise CPD programmes as appropriate.
- Ensure a rich and stimulating environment for students through the development and maintenance of
appropriate resources across the Arabic team. - Manage and co-ordinate the whole-school Arabic assessment framework and calendar.
- Monitor and evaluate planning, teaching, learning, target-setting, assessment and tracking in the Arabic
team as well as standards of student attainment, progress, attendance and behaviour. Analyse all relevant assessment, tracking and target-setting data for students within the phase and report as outlined in the annual assessment cycle timetable. Moderate samples of students’ work and assessments to ensure consistency of standards across the phase - Report on standards and progress in the Arabic team to the Senior Leadership Team, Local Advisory Board and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Liaise closely with other senior and middle leaders to ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum within the Arabic team.
- Lead the development of effective curriculum links with other schools in the GEMS network, the community and external agencies. Play an active role in the establishment and further development of parental/local community/wider community and international community links with the school to contribute to the school’s community cohesion policy as well as to enhance the education provision of all students.
- Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education and KHDA expectations and requirements in relation to the provision of Arabic subjects.
Skills
- Bachelor degree and Teaching License.
- Accredited leadership qualification or enrolled on a leadership development course.
- Proven skills in change leadership and innovation.
- Commitment to promote and support the vision, values and ethos of the School.
- Evidence of significant and continued professional development.
- Evidence of innovation leading to raised standards and improved student and staff motivation.
- Knowledge and understanding of competency-led curriculum frameworks.

- Generate high expectations, enthusiasm and commitment from staff.
- Lead careers and future skills, education across the school.
- Coordinate Parent Partnerships and Communication.
- Line management of Heads of Department
