Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Secondary Computer Science Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning in accordance with the British Curriculum, preparing students for IGCSE and A Level examinations while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Computer Science lessons in line with the British Curriculum requirements.
- Teach Computer Science to students at Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and A Level.
- Develop students’ understanding of programming, computational thinking, algorithms, data structures, networks, databases, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and intervention where necessary.
Assessment and Reporting
- Prepare students effectively for internal assessments, IGCSE, and A Level examinations.
- Design, administer, and mark assessments in accordance with curriculum standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student attainment, progress, and attendance.
- Prepare academic reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the development, review, and enhancement of the Computer Science curriculum.
- Stay updated with curriculum changes, examination board requirements, and developments in Computer Science education.
- Support cross-curricular initiatives involving technology and digital learning.
Student Support and Pastoral Care
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Promote high standards of behavior, safeguarding, and student welfare.
- Provide academic guidance and mentoring to students.
- Support extracurricular activities such as coding clubs, robotics, programming competitions, and STEM initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, leadership teams, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Adhere to school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards.
Skills
- Experience in coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, data science, or cybersecurity programs.
- Experience leading extracurricular STEM or technology initiatives.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technology tools.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve academic excellence.
- Strong organizational, planning, and assessment skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and educational innovation.
- Excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
