Job Description

The Arabic Coach is responsible for driving excellence in the teaching and learning of Arabic across all the Our Own schools. The role focuses on improving teaching quality, raising student achievement, supporting teachers through coaching and mentoring, and ensuring the effective implementation of the UAE Ministry of Education Arabic curriculum and GEMS teaching and learning standards.

The Arabic Coach will work collaboratively with school leaders, Heads of Arabic Departments and Arabic teachers to promote outstanding classroom practice, enhance student engagement, and contribute to continuous school improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning Excellence

  • Promote and model outstanding teaching and learning practices in Arabic.
  • Support HODs to help teachers in planning and delivering high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Arabic curriculum in line with Ministry of Education and school requirements.
  • Support the development of innovative teaching strategies that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Encourage the use of technology and digital resources to enrich Arabic language learning.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Conduct regular classroom observations and learning walks.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to Arabic HODs to improve classroom practices in their schools.
  • Mentor newly appointed and less experienced Arabic teachers.
  • Support HODs in setting professional growth targets for teachers and action plans.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning and professional learning communities within the Our Own Cluster.

Student Achievement

  • Analyze assessment data to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with HODs to improve student performance in internal and external assessments.

Curriculum Development

  • Support curriculum planning, review, and development.
  • Ensure curriculum continuity and progression across year groups.
  • Assist in the development of assessment frameworks and moderation processes.

Professional Development

  • Design and deliver professional development sessions for Arabic leaders.
  • Share best practices, educational research, and innovative approaches to teaching Arabic.
  • Encourage reflective practice and continuous professional growth.

Quality Assurance

  • Monitor the quality of teaching and learning through observations, work scrutiny, and data analysis.
  • Support school self-evaluation and improvement planning processes.
  • Assist in preparing for external inspections, including KHDA, DSIB, and Ministry reviews.
  • Contribute to achieving school improvement priorities related to Arabic education.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with school leaders, department heads, and teachers.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Arabic Department in meetings and school initiatives as required.

Skills

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arabic Language, Arabic Education.
  • Recognized teaching qualification.
  • Fluency in Arabic and strong communication skills in English.

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Coaching or leadership certification.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years of successful Arabic teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated record of improving student outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience in instructional coaching, curriculum leadership, or middle leadership roles.
  • Experience in a UAE school and familiarity with KHDA, DSIB, and Ministry of Education expectations.
