Description
We are looking to hire a talented Document Controller to join our team. You will be joining a creative, diverse team tasked with solving challenging problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading examples of energy efficient, cost-effective designs. You will work alongside internal partner teams such as Engineering, Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our Customers.
Key job responsibilities
Check documents for accuracy and contract compliance.
Manage simultaneous documentation projects, engaging stakeholders to ensure quality and coherence of deliverables.
Maintain user accounts, security groups, and permissions; train employees on the document management system.
Set up training initiatives for internal and external partners and provide tactical support.
Gather information from stakeholders to produce best practices and respond to customer needs.
Assist in project closeouts, archiving, processing, and filing activities.
Collaborate with technical teams to edit and elevate high-quality technical documentation.
Coordinate engineering and architectural specifications, design drawings, and permit submittals.
Support construction managers in preparing complete handoff documentation, including drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
Maintain the document repository by site; ensure correct uploads.
Manage documentation processes and maintain confidentiality around sensitive documents.
Prepare ad-hoc project reports and attend team meetings as the Document Control representative.
Develop standardized procedures and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
Ensure red-lined updates are reflected in as-built drawings provided to the owner.
Confirm all Operations & Maintenance Manuals and warranties are provided to the owner with complete status, terms, and contact information.
A day in the life
Each day, you will represent AWS in ensuring on-time delivery of construction documentation while improving document control processes and quality standards.
You will drive communication across departments, coordinating with front-line and executive-level managers to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
You will leverage your experience and document management tools to identify gaps in documentation workflows and propose solutions.
Daily tasks may comprise document reviews, compliance checks, stakeholder coordination, and closeout processing. You will act as the primary escalation point for documentation issues, owning and tracking them to resolution
About the team
Our Pre-Construction team is a multicultural, multinational group at the forefront of creating and delivering the most innovative products to our customers and is known for changing the face of cloud computing.
We support the development and implementation of design standards across regional construction programs. We create and release high-quality, consistent documentation for processes, standards, and procedures, and serve as the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Construction, and other critical partner teams from site selection through construction commencement.
Basic Qualifications
– Master’s degree or above in enginnering or equivalent, or 4+ years of construction or project management experience
– 4+ years of construction or project management, or 4+ years of relevant discipline work experience
– Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel
– • 4+ years’ experience as a construction document controller for large commercial, mission critical, or industrial projects.
– • Experience with design and construction management software including Autodesk BIM360, Bluebeam, and Procore.
Preferred Qualifications
– Experience in construction or project management, or experience in project management
– Experience with high-volume, high-velocity, large-scale file management (workflow orchestration, file-movement, permission management, etc.)
– Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience handling confidential information and maintaining professionalism in dealing with senior executives
– Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster seamless interaction with stakeholders at all levels
– Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains
– Knowledge of construction life cycle sequencing and project schedules.
– Organizational and analytical skills, including experience writing functional and technical specifications.
