Job Description

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Be able to demonstrate successful experience of leading and managing staff, promoting and developing approaches to learning.
  •  Be able to demonstrate a comprehensive and confident knowledge of delivery at KS3, KS4 and post-16 (IGCSE/A Level experience is essential).
  •  Be able to demonstrate genuine passion towards the wider co-curricular life of a school.
  • Experience of curriculum planning, options and timetabling desirable.
  • Ability to effectively monitor, analyse and set ambitious targets for student outcomes.
  • Embody the values, vision and ethos of WSR and assist the Principal and Vice Principal in formulating policy which will ensure high quality and successful outcomes.
  • Support the Principal and Vice Principal in achieving the key strategic objectives through formulating and leading on specific aspects of the School improvement plan.
  • Be fully accountable for key aspects of the work of the Secondary School providing analytical comment on performance measured against a number of key performance indicators.
  • Lead on all aspects of the Secondary school involved with CAT4 assessments, GL Progress Tests and PASS data, and effectively share this information with key stakeholder.
  • Lead, school wide, on TIMMS, PISA and PIRL assessments and work closely with the data manager and exam’s officer.
  • Ensure that all staff, students and parents have accurate, analysed and accessible data on progress and attainment at all times.
  • Ensure that parents and students are reported to each term and all reports are accurate and timely.
  • Lead the heads of Department/Faculty and Grade Leaders to ensure that they can effectively disseminate data, actions and development plans to other staff.
  • Lead on organisation of parent consultation meetings each term and ensure that all information is accurate and timely.
  • Manage the Heads of Departments/Faculty to ensure that assessments are rigorous and valid.
  • Create sustainable systems for external moderation of data and assessment at all key stages.
  • Have an oversight of all data management systems used by the school and ensure that these maximise impact and minimise inefficiencies.
  • Monitor all departmental SEFs and resulting intervention each Half Term to ensure that resources are being used effectively.
  • Manage Heads of Department/Faculty and classroom teachers to ensure that data management at a class teacher level is efficient and impactful.
  • Lead the Heads of Department/Faculty to ensure that target grades are aspirational.
  • Develop systems to ensure effective guidance for students and accurate GCSE and A Level predictions.
  • Manage SENCo by regularly monitoring students of determination.
  • Contribute to raising standards at a whole school level through the accurate identification of need and reporting through the correct channels for action at every level.
  •  Provide excellent PLD, in collaboration with SLT, on the use of data in the classroom and in positions of leadership.
  • Lead on key strategic developments (phase specific) which result in raised attainment and outcomes for all students as agreed with the Principal and Vice Principal.
  • Take a leading role in the preparation of key aspects of the SEF and Inspection processes and procedures.
