Job Description
Purpose
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Social Media Executive who specializes in content creation and editing. This role will sit under the social media Team and will support our school marketing managers in producing compelling video and static content that aligns with our brand’s strategic content pillars. You will be responsible for ideating, brainstorming, and editing creative video content to tell the GEMS Education brand story. Strong English and Arabic proficiency is required. Your portfolio, attitude, and teamwork abilities will be key factors in your success.
*There is flexibility for this role to be based in Dubai if you have a strong understanding of the Abu Dhabi market and comfortable to travel Abu Dhabi on regular basis i.e. once or twice a week.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop continuous, relevant, and engaging brand content that reflects the brand’s personality and pillars.
- Create various content types (videos, stills, infographics) with appropriate tone and style.
- Target content to specific audiences and focus on trending topics that align with the brand.
- Design, artwork, and supply graphic projects for the editorial calendar.
- Collaborate with internal departments to brainstorm campaign ideas that empower the brand.
- Ensure constant content updates across all owned channels.
- Execute content using design platforms such as Adobe Photoshop and Capcut.
- Provide engaging text, image, and video content for social media accounts.
- Cover school/social live events on the ground with a quick turnaround time.
- Plan annual, quarterly, and monthly content calendars for owned channels.
- Conceptualize and produce short-form, platform-native video content (Reels, Shorts, TikTok-style formats) optimized for each channel.
- Translate briefs and content pillars into storyboards or shot lists before filming to ensure clarity and efficiency.
- Apply basic motion graphics, text animation, transitions, and sound to enhance video storytelling.
- Ensure content is visually consistent with brand guidelines while still being platform-relevant and trend-led.
- Support content testing by creating multiple creative variations (formats, edits, hooks) when required.

- Filming Tools: Proficiency in handling filming tools like gimbals, microphones, and lighting.
- Studio Setup: Experience in setting up studio locations for interviews and videos.
- On-Camera Presence: Confidence in engaging in front of the camera.
- Animation: Capability to create short, animated videos.
- Adaptability: Positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to last-minute changes.
- Strong understanding of short-form video storytelling principles (hooks, pacing, narrative flow).
- Working knowledge of social media algorithms and content performance drivers.
- Ability to shoot content with an eye for composition, lighting, framing, and sound quality.
- Basic understanding of video formats, codecs, frame rates, and aspect ratios for different platforms.
- Ability to interpret performance insights and refine creative output based on engagement results.
- Strong creative judgement with the confidence to propose ideas proactively, not just execute briefs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field.
- Relevant editing and creative qualifications.
- Experience in managing social media accounts across different platforms.
- Passionate and knowledgeable about video and audiovisual content.
- Strong English and Arabic language skills
