Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive counselling services that support students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development. The Student Counsellor will promote a positive school climate, guide students through challenges, coordinate wellbeing initiatives, and collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure each student’s holistic growth in alignment with GEMS Education values.

  • Student Support & Counselling: Provide individual and group counselling to support students’ emotional, social, and academic wellbeing.

  • Wellbeing & Behaviour Guidance: Implement wellbeing initiatives and behaviour interventions that promote a positive, supportive school environment.

  • Academic Guidance: Assist students in developing effective study habits, goal-setting skills, and strategies for academic success.

  • Parent & Community Engagement: Work collaboratively with parents and external partners to support students’ development and address concerns.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate counselling records and ensure adherence to safeguarding and regulatory requirements.

  • School-wide Initiatives: Lead and contribute to wellbeing programs, staff training, and pastoral initiatives that enhance the school community.

Skills

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ school counselling experience (preferably in UAE)

  • Knowledge of child development, mental health frameworks, and safeguarding protocols.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis-management skills
