Job Description
The Special Needs Teacher (also known as SEN Teacher) is responsible for teaching and supporting students with a range of physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disabilities. They create inclusive learning environments tailored to individual educational needs, ensuring each child can achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
· Individualized Instruction:
o Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students based on assessments and in collaboration with parents, specialists, and other educators.
o Adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs and abilities.
· Classroom Support:
o Provide one-on-one or small group instruction when necessary.
o Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive behavior strategies.
o Promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
· Collaboration:
o Work closely with general education teachers, teaching assistants, therapists (e.g., speech, occupational), and school counselors.
o Attend IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and staff development sessions.
· Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
o Evaluate students’ progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed.
o Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior.
o Report regularly to parents and school leadership.
· Inclusion Advocacy:
o Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel safe, supported, and respected.
o Promote awareness and understanding of disabilities within the school community.
Skills
· Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
o Valid teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement.
· Experience:
o Previous experience working with children with special needs is strongly preferred.
o Familiarity with various disabilities (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, physical impairments).
· Skills:
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
o Ability to develop creative and engaging teaching strategies.
Arabic speaker preferred
