Job Description

Purpose

The Head of Strategic Communications is responsible for managing and elevating the reputation of GEMS Education across the region and globally. This role drives the PR and communications strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, brand positioning, and stakeholder engagement.

The Head of Strategic Communications will act as the guardian of GEMS’ external voice, overseeing media relations, thought leadership, crisis communications, and corporate reputation management while ensuring integration with brand, social, and digital campaigns.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement the PR and communications strategy for both corporate and schools.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media, influencers, and stakeholders.
  • Lead executive thought leadership initiatives, including speeches, op-eds, interviews, and panels.
  • Manage crisis communications to safeguard the reputation of GEMS Education.
  • Oversee media monitoring, reporting, and analysis of PR effectiveness.
  • Ensure PR is fully integrated with brand, digital, and social campaigns.
  • Act as the lead liaison for senior executives with external stakeholders and press.
  • Drive positive media coverage to position GEMS as a leader in education and innovation.
  • Provide training and support to executives and school leaders in media engagement.

Skills

Expected Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • 12–15 years’ experience in corporate communications, media relations, or PR.
  • Strong regional media network across UAE and MENASA.
  • Proven track record in managing corporate reputation and thought leadership.
  • Experience in large, matrix organisations.
