Job Description

  1. Deliver high-quality IT lessons to students in Secondary section.
  2. Prepare lesson plans and learning materials in accordance with curriculum guidelines.
  3. Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilize appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
  4. Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
  5. Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities e.g. late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented etc.
  6. Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
  7. Use technology and digital tools effectively to enhance learning outcomes.
  8. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  9. Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
  10. Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials and experiences.
  11. Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, or a related field (required).

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years teaching IT/ICT at the secondary level (A level preferred).

  • Experience with exam board curricula such as Cambridge IGCSE (a plus).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of ICT content, coding, and emerging technologies.

  • Effective classroom management skills.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using EdTech platforms and tools.
